Its with a heavy heart that this is the last day of camp. But its a great day to show you, how they did during launch today.

Part 1

You guessed it, our final pop quiz for the students, who aced the harder diagram.

We started the day with a guest speaker, Neil! Neil currently works at Boeing and is a prime example of what our students want to be.

  • Neil gave the students and the team a heartfelt story of his life, and why he wanted to become a aerospace engineer.
  • Neil has a Bachelors and Masters in electrical and computer engineering who worked on numerous satellites, airplanes’, and now is helping the military.
  • He described his job and described the supplying process of airplanes, and rockets.

We did a group activity highlighting the important parts of a rocket. Note, that it is not a model rocket.

After a motivational speech, the students finished up the rockets. Here are the teams and the rocket configurations.

  • 2 Tight: led by Shauyra, went for a mostly 3D printed rocket.
  • Brother Team: Led by Ishaan, created 2 whole rockets in the time it took the others to build one.
  • Intergalactic Galaxies, led by Keito, focused mainly on tube fins.
  • Monstrocketers. led by Sinja, went for a more typical rocket.

Each team had the chance to paint their rocket, some chose gold, some chose black, while other liked red.

Breaktime!

For most of the students, every time they went outside was a chance to have a break. Other than that. They were relaxing after finishing their rocket.

Launch!

Since there was not part 2, we figured to go straight to launch.

Everyone had the chance to launch with family and friends, while drinking sparkling Ice, Gatorade, or La Croix. All the rockets launched beautifully while being retrieved.

Our Final Thanks

The team at Camp Liftoff are thankful to every single parent and student that signed up for the camp. We hope to see you all next year!
